My goal is to provide compassionate, patient-centered care using the most advanced surgical techniques to ensure the best possible outcomes. I am committed to helping my patients navigate their health challenges with understanding, dignity and a focus on restoring their quality of life.

Michael G. Porter, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon and colon and rectal surgeon with over 30 years of experience providing exceptional care to patients in Wichita, Kansas. A Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Dr. Porter also serves as the Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program. He is passionate about advancing surgical education and mentoring the next generation of surgeons.

Dr. Porter specializes in a wide range of procedures, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgeries for colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and diverticular disease. His interests include the management of anorectal disorders and gastrointestinal endoscopy. His expertise extends to performing complex colorectal reconstructions and addressing functional pelvic floor disorders.

Dr. Porter completed his medical degree and general surgery residency at the University of Kansas, followed by a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the renowned Ferguson Clinic. He is a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

Committed to clinical excellence, Dr. Porter has been recognized with numerous teaching awards and is regularly featured as a “Top Doctor” in his field. Outside the operating room, he enjoys playing trombone in local bands and staying active through marathon running.
